ASMI activity report 2006

œ ASMI jointly conducted PTA cooking classes in Hokkaido, tying up
@ with Japan Food News.

@ During September - December, Alaska sockeye salmon menus were featured in PTA cooking classes in 6 Japanese regular schools.
ASMI's long-time trade partner Towa Shokuhin participated in this event by providing high quality Alaska sockeye salmon and kazunoko herring roe.
On November 29th in Shiseikan Elementary School in Sapporo city, and on December 4th in Inekita Senior High in Teine city, ASMI staff visited the cooking classes to deliver key Alaska Seafood message to the parents and teachers.@Participants were taking notes and nodding often time to ASMI's remarks. ASMI informed the participants that " ASMI wants to help Japanese parents to show their children how wonderful wild and natural seafood from Alaska is." ASMI encouraged participants to choose Alaska Seafood and stated to the group:
"Please try to choose good foods like Alaska Seafood and cook it at home to feed your kids as often as possible, so your kids always remember that their mothers cared for them and helped them be strong and healthy. Then they will come to learn how to pick and appreciate good food as they grow up.'
 
£It's tasty, when you eat it. You can feel good and get healthier when you eat it...It's Alaska seafood, something good for you. Price is not the #1 standard of the good food particularly for the children.
 
£Moms were jubilated by the Alaska kazunoko and sockeye salmon.
 
£Freshly cooked Alaska sockeye pilaf was the main course of the day.

œ Mycal promoted Alaska kazunoko herring roe gift packs in its 111 outlets
@ nationwide.

@ From November 4th to the 2007 year end, ASMI supports Mycal supermarket chains to promote Alaska kazunoko herring roe gift packs with the promotional tools and in-store demonstration staff. ASMI also conducts in the ASMI mobile site and website consumer quiz campaign to invite more access to the ASMI website and also to evaluate the demographics of general consumers being attracted to the ASMI campaign.
Mr. Nagai Keiji, seafood buyer of Mycal's Product General HQ in Kinki district said, 'Consumers like Alaskan kazunoko, reasonably priced and bigger in size compared with the other ones. It'd be nice if we can differentiate Alaskan products more aggressively next time.'

œ The 2007 Best Patner of The Year

@ The 2007 Partner of the Year was awarded to a TV celebrity couple, Hiromi and Iyo Matsumoto. @ASMI is an official sponsor for the overall 'ii fufu no hi (Good Partners' Day)' national campaign.

œ ASMI co-sponsored 'ii fufu de kitchen' events 'avec' Patrice et Yuri Julien

@ ASMI participated as an official sponsor in the Patrice Julien's cooking demonstrations under the banner of 'ii fufu de kitchen' as a part of 'Good Partners' Day (=Nov. 22nd) ' campaign.
This year the cooking demo and the consumer cooking classes were held in 4 places, renting Tokyo Gas kitchen showrooms in Shakujii, Adachi, Chofu and Omiya.
ASMI provided the events with wild coho salmon and sablefish.
 
£ASMI supported the event for the 3rd year in a row.

œ ASMI supported Japan's top consumer gourmet magazine's annual function

@ Dancyu, the Japan's most selling consumer gourmet magazine with 150,000 national circulation, hosted its annual 'thank you' reception for the readers on October 29th (Monday) at ANA-Intercontinental hotel.
ASMI, as one of the prominent sponsors for the magazine through the years, joined in sponsors' demonstration in array at the reception.
The special invitees came from the Dancyu's 100 committee members which is comprised of 100 'smart & picky' general readers who care only for the wholesome and delicious food, beverages and even life-style, that are featured in Dancyu magazine. The scenes are also shown on the Dancyu's 2008-January Issue (published on December 6th, 2007) in 'Party!' Special feature pages.

to send the gift pack all to her old parents.

œ Alaska Seafood Fair at National Azabu Supermarket!

National Azabu Supermarket in Hiroo, one of the most upscale grocery shops in Tokyo, promoted Alaska wild coho salmon and king crab for the family gathering special menus during Halloween Weekend!
 
£'Catch your seafood at National Azabu' jumbo banner catches your eyes all year-round. £ASMI tri-lingual demo staff conducted sampling of barbecued coho salmon to attract more shoppers.

œ ASMI Thanked JOQR Bunka Hoso Radio Station

@Mr. Ryang from ASMI Japan office appeared on Terashima Naomasa's Radio Kiki Mimi Punch! program on July 20th to convey thank-you message to Mr. Terashima, the radio personality, and presented as a small token of appreciation to him, ASMI hats, aprons, ASMI posters, map of Alaska and smoked salmon. Since early 2006, ASMI conducted radio PR campaign tying up with JOQR Bunka hoso through 20-sec infomercial on-air, movie premier show sponsorship combining Alaska seafood lunch box tasting.

Particularly the radio companyfs ekiki mimi punch!f program featured and introduced more than 30 Japanese seafood trade partners from the Alaska seafood retail promotion scenes or through the live interviews in the radio station. Mr. Terashima commented that by interviewing so many Alaska seafood experts in his program he felt he had become quite knowledgeable person himself about Alaska seafood, wishing well for the industry and ASMI organization.

œ The Europian Seafood Exposition in Brussel


@ The European Seafood Exposition is an event that brings together seafood- buyers and sellers from all over Europe and the world. With over 1600 exhibitors from more than 77 countries, ESE offers seafood business professionals access to a one-stop resource to reach global retail, foodservice and wholesale companies.

@ASMI participated in the show offering an exclusive rounge for the Alaska seafood industry members who exhibited their products to invite international buyers for the business meetings. Alaska's wild, natural and sustainable seafood products were attracting the visitors attention and interest during the show just to reflect growing demand for these valuable, friendly-to earth and people products from Alaska.

œ gWild Alaska Bowl" at Foodex Japan 2007

@Alaska Salmon & Ikura donburi (seafood bowl) was sampled at Internet Cafe in US Pavilion of Foodex 2007.With a support from ASMI, US Embassy ATO Tokyo provided US exhibitors and their customers with delicious and healthy Alaska seafood dishes for refreshments.Internet Cafe users really enjoyed gWild Alaskan Seafood Bowlh during 4 day Foodex period.

œ gSanpei Jiruh made with Wild Alaska Herring at Nordic Ski Championships

@ FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Sapporo 2007, its first ever event in Asia was held having over 40 different participating countries in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
Kato Suisan, one of official sponsors of this event warmed many visitorsf freezing bodies with gSanpei Jiruh soup sampling, which was made with Alaska herring, at Okurayama Jumping Hill where Large Hill Ski Jumping competitions took place.Kato Suisan also sampled gNuka Nishinh, herring marinated in salt and rice-bran paste at the event.ASMI supported this sampling program for Kato Suisan
